When a device has a support for standart GSM modem(using AT commands) over serial port EDM3200 is the solution with  various 2G/3G/LTE  GSM data service alternatives. The serial connection is based ont DTE connection and with standard SIM interface any type of data or voice type SIM card can be used.

With standard AT commands, besides the data connection , also SMS functions can be implemented based on the driver of the connected device.

In this type of application, due to the serial port connection structure, the signal names in the modem category are called DCE, and the names on the device on the terminal side are called DTE. This should be taken into consideration in the connections.

EDM3200 has DTE type singalling notation for RS232 pinout.
